Fractions of crude oil or natural gas are the starting point for petrochemicals and their plastic raw materials. The basic modules in petrochemicals, such as olefins, are produced from a certain part, naphtha, by means of cracking processes. On this base a wide range of molecules is created, thus resulting in a number of different chemical compounds and plastics.
